Rushmore Golf Club, Wiltshire
Phase 1
Previously this was a dated changing room with temporary slatted benches and hanging units. RBW were commissioned to transform the space into a modern and effective new changing room with a separate locker room and storage lockers.
We fitted Tongue and Groove panelling to the external walls and constructed and designed a central unit to accommodate seating, shelves, coat hooks and solid Ash bench seating. The budget was tight on this project so we sourced preassembled cupboards and adapted them to suit the space, adding shoe storage units below each cupboard to give a bespoke finish. Each locker was built to accommodate a set of golf clubs in a caddy, and the smaller cupboards above to house holdalls, clothes and personal belongings.
We handmade all the shelves and made the brackets to match the shape of the shelving in the bar and restaurant area. We also used the same style of brackets on the benches. The cornice was fitted to give a handmade, bespoke finish.
We also created a new access to the existing men’s WC and shower room from the hallway off the bar, to avoid people having to go through the changing rooms to access them.
Rushmore is an 18-hole golf club set high on the chalk of the Cranborne Chase and in the heart of the historic Rushmore Park. It has the unusual distinction of having 9 holes in Dorset and 9 holes in Wiltshire! The course is within easy access of local towns Salisbury, Shaftesbury and Blandford.
Phase 2
Following the success of our phase 1 works, RBW returned to the Chalk of Cranborne Chase to complete phase 2 of the transformation at Rushmore Golf Club. Now focusing on the ladies’ changing area and locker rooms, our team crafted a modern and luxurious space for members and visitors.
Fitting a custom-made, concordant changing area with high-quality panelling and benches, the space flows seamlessly into the locker room, perfectly designed for storing golf caddies and personal belongings. Exterior work on this project included cladding and structural works to lintels to ensure the building’s lifespan.
Our phase 2 works also included the complete reconfiguration of the toilet and shower areas, with new access points added to improve usability for guests. The new bathrooms have been designed as modern and luxurious spaces, and the rejuvenated shower rooms provide a relaxing atmosphere after a day on the course.
With a fully accessible disabled bathroom and a transformed hallway added to the works, this renovation has completely transformed the facilities at Rushmore Golf Club. With our team of skilled professionals also turning the old bathroom areas into a massage treatment room, this clubhouse is fit for its rich location in the heart of Wiltshire’s Rushmore Park.
